New Super Moon November 14-15, 2020

Time to be Captain of Your Ship!

There is a New Super Moon on November 14, 2020 (9:07 pm Pacific Time) – so named Super because the Moon is at its closest to Earth in its annual orbit. Perhaps an astrological metaphor could be that we are closer to our emotional and spiritual nature this time of year, and more receptive to our feeling nature to help guide us.

It is easy to associate New Moons with New Beginnings, and while that is absolutely true, it’s important that YOU participate in the process and help set things into motion by taking action!

New Moons are excellent for setting your intentions! Like a sea Captain taking the helm – where will you steer your ship to reach a new desired destination?

I think one of the major misunderstandings about astrology is that life happens TO YOU – and you are a victim of circumstances – for better or worse. Not true! There is interaction and engagement always available!

This New Moon in Scorpio (where both Sun and Moon are in the same astrological sign) is timed with many planets that have recently changed, or are about to change (apparent) directions in the sky – from going in “reverse” – to going forward! Perhaps most notable of those planetary “re-directs” is our personal warrior - Mars – who finally pivots on November 13 and brings his energy into a new use of our will, determination, and aspirations!

To help your “stars align” during this New Super Moon – it’s imperative that you take new and deliberative action that has a focus, purpose and also joins forces with similar minds and hearts to achieve a common goal!

The sign of Scorpio deals with other people’s resources, and ways you can tap into those resources available to be shared. Typically, the shared resources are considered to be money and can come in the form of a loan, or outright “gift” to create something of value that is also shared. Certainly it resources do not have to be money - and can  include knowledge, favors, introductions and so on.

Key words for this Super New Moon are passion and transformation. The two go hand-in-hand as you take the helm of your ship and set sail for a vision of yourself that has yet to materialize. The Scorpio energy touches our deepest levels where desires drive us to want more for ourselves and to evolve spiritually.

At the same time you move towards a new destination, it is likely you are letting go of something that was a big part of your life, but no longer serves the purpose as before. Yet, even as you acknowledge “its for the best” there are heavy feelings of loss and perhaps grief that are part of the process of “moving on”. This can be taken as a sign that you are doing something wrong and can tempt you to stay in a no-win situation – rather than face fears about what change will bring.

The sign of Scorpio has more than one symbol to contemplate its powerful energies – beginning with the scorpion who can deliver a lethal sting to its enemies, but also inadvertently sting itself when mis-directed. Of course, the phoenix represents the rising from ashes from the destruction of the past and begin its evolution towards the mighty eagle – where we learn to take heart and gather courage in the fierce battle of personal fears. The image of the eagle teaches the Scorpio energies in all of us to broaden their personal sense of self and encourages us to go beyond the limited horizon of what is visible from the ground.

Syncing up with the New Moon cycles helps you sync up with nature, the universe and yourself. Despite the “call for action” on your intentions, the New Moon signals time to slow down, reflect, meditate, take long thoughtful walks and enjoy other quiet pursuits where you can hear your inner voice speak to you.

The New Moon phase has a large “window” that begins about 48 hours before the exact alignment (9:07 pm on Nov. 14, Pacific Time), and lasts another 2 days following – giving you ample opportunities to indulge in a variety of efforts to manifest your desired changes. There is no right or wrong way to do something that helps you to center and focus on what you want to bring into your life - it can be as simple as lighting a candle, playing music, lighting incense, or just going outside to be with nature!

I do believe it helps to write down a list of what you want to bring into your life, which likely means you have to make decisions about what you are asking for in the New Moon cycle. I also believe the list helps activate the intention to physically take the first step(s) to make it happen – like making a phone call or in-person visit to discuss your new ideas!

Above all, be mindful that you are the Captain of your ship and have command over the directions you wish to sail in life. During the New Moon in Scorpio we have the opportunity to explore the depths of our soul by reconnecting with our passions and being true to where they are calling you to follow.
