Time to Take Back Your Power

One of the most talked about Full Moons in recent history is the Full Moon on Nov. 8, 2022, at 3:01 am Pacific Time. This is when the Sun will be in the sign of Scorpio and Moon in the opposite sign of Taurus.

To add to the normal Full Moon intensity, there will be a total lunar eclipse – the second one of 2022 from the first eclipse in May. The eclipse brings a 6-month cycle of themes and events that will surface during this significant astrological event. On a global scale, we are likely to see the U.S. election take center stage as shifts in power are predicted, no matter who wins.

The eclipses occur when the Sun or Moon are very close to the North or South Nodes, which are indicated by the orbital path of the Moon intersecting the apparent path of the Sun around earth. The nodes indicate restless parts of the horoscope, where we have strong urges to move forward into unfamiliar territory (north node) and let go of patterns that are no longer serving us (south nodes).

For many of us, this Full Moon will signal it’s time to take back your power, and it likely comes in the form of letting go of the reigns you have held on so tightly – and perhaps neglected other priorities and peace of mind. Ask yourself how much time you have spent trying to control someone else or block their efforts to the point you are consumed with the constant struggle to keep them in check? What price have you paid for spending all that time and energy?

While the Sun and Moon face off in their polar opposites of Scorpio and Taurus, we will see themes of money and resources come into play – especially in terms of who controls the decision making and the purse strings as to how money is spent.

Don’t be surprised as some skeletons come out of the closet during this Full Moon to shine the light on hidden information. This likely means a game changer to take a new direction once the truth comes out.

The stage will be set this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus with scenarios that will trigger strong emotions and we will be challenged to take a new course of responding in different ways vs. reacting in habitual patterns that keeps us in a power struggle where we give away our power in an endless tug-o-war.

Day Chart and Night Charts in Astrology - Why Does it Matter?

Discover the Difference of Having a Day or a Night Chart!

If there is one thing people should want to know about their natal astrology chart besides what Sun Sign they were born under, it is whether they have a Day Chart or Night Chart. Why? Because that will determine whether you are a Sun Child or Moon Child – so to speak.

Perhaps it is more accurate to say that if you were born during the Day – the Sun takes the lead for you, and if you were born during the Night, the Moon becomes your leader amongst all the other planets in your chart.

As you can imagine, it is easy to determine if you have a Day or Night chart. If you were born between sunrise and sunset, you have a Day Chart, also known as Diurnal Chart. If you were born after sunset and before sunrise, you have a Night or Nocturnal Chart.

Before you say “Duh – I could have told you that”…it is important for those born close to the time of the daily sunrise or sunset to ask an astrologer to prepare a precise natal chart, based on your time and location of birth, and then give you a definite answer. Just having the time of birth being “off” by a few minutes can make a big difference as to what planets take the lead role in your life and which ones take something of a “backseat”. In other words – if you are not sure if you were born at 6:05 a.m. vs. 6:15 a.m. – and the sunrise on your birthday was 6:07 a.m. – you definitely want to get your exact time of birth to get your correct answer.

The concept and the use of Day and Night Charts was all but lost until fairly recently, when in 1993 newly discovered ancient texts were translated by some of the most prominent names in Modern Astrology, including Robert Schmidt, Robert Hand, and Chris Brennan. Their work of translation (called Project Hindsight) has brought astounding insight into natal astrology chart interpretations – using the techniques and terminology of Day and Night Charts referred to as Sect.

Simply put – If you are born with a Day Chart – your major planetary influences are your Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn. If you are born with a Night Chart – your major planetary influences are your Moon, Venus, and Mars.

These groupings of the planets are referred to as a “Team” – also known as a Sect. For purposes of relating to your Day or Night planets, let’s use the word Team – as it has a warm, fuzzy reference that we can relate to how they help us and influence much of how we think, feel and operate.

As stated, the Day Chart has the Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn as a strong team for you to tap into their strengths and energies. Likewise, the Moon, Venus, and Mars work as a strong team in the Night Chart to offer guidance and positive energies. This is good to know!

The Planet Mercury has not been mentioned yet – because he is on BOTH TEAMS! Mercury in your chart represents your mind and how you process information to form perceptions and communicate what you “know”. So, Mercury is on your team regardless of you having a Day or Night chart. Since Mercury is always close to the Sun – he often performs better in a Day chart – but not necessarily. Nuances and contradictions are always likely in astrology chart interpretations. Just know that Mercury is always on your team – Day or Night – supporting you as best he can.

The difference of how Mercury functions In a Night Chart (vs. a Day Chart) is likely to be more intuitive and introspective because of the Moon’s “light” that is a feminine and receptive energy that affects Mercury’s mental nature. Conversely, the bright light of the Sun in a Day Chart provides masculine and outgoing forces that affects Mercury to be more logical and precise than in a Night Chart. It might be accurate to say that in a Night Chart, Mercury is more “right brain” by being more of a creative and intuitive thinker, and in a Day Chart, more of a “left brain” individual who is analytical and objective.

Now that you know you have either a Day or Night Chart – no doubt you want to know how to make best use of the information. One place to start is to get a an in-person or software interpretation from a reliable source. The software I use is Janus and Solar Fire – that have great reviews for descriptions that provide insight into your emotional, mental and spiritual qualities. The astrology software reports available on the internet usually give detail about the planetary placements by sign and house, but don’t usually identify the natal charts as being a Day or Night report – but it’s easy to figure out.

In both the Day and Night Charts, it is the placement of the Sun by HOUSE that determines whether it is a Day or Night Chart. For the Day Chart, the Sun is placed in one of the 7 ^th through 12 ^th Houses. All Night Charts have the Sun placed in the 1 ^st through 6 ^th House.

As you look at your natal astrology chart – notice whether the Sun is “above or below the horizon”, and whether your Sun is placed in one of the first 6 Houses (which makes it a Day Chart), or in one of the 7 ^th , 8 ^th , 9 ^th , 10 ^th , 11 ^th or 12, Houses (which makes it a Night Chart) .

The horizon is the line that divides the chart from the upper hemisphere and lower hemisphere, also known as the Ascendant-Descendant Axis. That line is the Sunrise (your Ascendant) and Sunset (Descendant) of your Natal Astrology Chart.

Day Chart – with Sun above horizon (in either 7 ^th , 8 ^th , 9 ^th , 10 ^th , 11 ^th , or 12 ^th House)

Day Chart Team: Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn (and Mercury)

The Sun represents our life force energy and brings the expression of the zodiac sign it is positioned in at time of birth. In a Day Chart - the Sun joins forces with its powerful Team, consisting of the planets Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury. Jupiter is a “sun” in i’s own right – and brings a desire to expand, explore and share in the abundance of the universe. Saturn brings structure, discipline and realistic perspectives to achieve goals and create stability. Mercury gathers knowledge and communicates for the Team, based largely on placements of the planets by sign and house. By no means are these attributes represent all that the Day Chart “team” offers those born with the Diurnal chart.

Night Chart – with Sun below horizon (in either 1 ^st , 2 ^nd , 3 ^rd , 4 ^th , 5 ^th or 6 ^th House)

Night Chart Team: Moon, Venus, and Mars (and Mercury)

When the Sun is placed below the horizon in one of the 1 ^st through 6 ^th Houses, the Moon takes the lead and its Team includes Venus, Mars and Mercury. The Moon represents our inner world of emotions, dreams and introspective nature, and will express the qualities of the zodiac sign it was positioned at time of birth. Venus blends naturally with the Moon’s feminine energy and represents our desires for beauty and love. Mars is softened in the Night Chart to bring its passions and desires to achieve goals that support the energies of the sign it is placed at time of birth. Mercury gathers knowledge and communicates for the Team, based largely on placements of the planets by sign and house. By no means are these attributes represent all that the Night Chart “team” offers those born with the Nocturnal chart.

The main purpose of this article is to help you become aware of the difference of having a Day or Night Chart and where to look next for major influences in your Natal Astrology Horoscope. What the Moon Phase You Were Born Under Says About You in Astrology!

It never ceases to amaze me to hear people react to being told they are a “New Moon” or “Full Moon” baby! There is instant delight that implies they understand what that means, astrologically speaking! Chances are – they don’t. But it sounds pretty cool and raises instant curiosity to discover what the astrological significance is for them!

The phase of the Moon people are born under gives great insight into “karmic promises” made for this lifetime. It symbolizes likely traits such as mood, and outlook on life.

The Moon phase is always based in relationship to how far away it is from the Sun at any given time. Within each monthly Moon cycle is approximately 29.53059 days (from New Moon to New Moon). That Moon cycle is divided into eight (8) phases and measured by degrees between it and the Sun’s position. Example: A New Moon will be somewhere between 0 and 45 degrees between Sun and Moon. One could argue that a Full or New Moon can only last an instant before it is no longer “exact” – and that is true. But astrologically and astronomically speaking, the phases are determined by the degrees between the Sun and Moon.

First things first – you need to find your Moon Phase…and thanks to the internet – it’s super easy!

Simply ask your browser what the Moon Phase was on the day and time and place you were born. Example: On July 4, 2000, San Diego, California at 9:00 a.m. the Moon was in its Waxing Crescent phase. If you do not know the time of your birth – it’s usually safe to use 12 noon or even 6pm.

Now that you know your Moon Phase – the descriptions below offer a glimpse into your psyche and point to the monthly moon phase that are most impactful for you to intentionally express those qualities. I recommend you mark your calendars each month to “sync up” to the Moon Phase in the sky, with the one you were born under by practicing a type of ritual or meditation to manifest what you want and desire to have in your life. Heck – it could even be to take a bubble bath or treat yourself to a night out! By all means, spend time outdoors to gaze and reflect on the Moon’s appearance in the daytime or nighttime sky, and be open to thoughts and feelings that arise within when you do

New Moon Phase 0⁰-45⁰ “The Legend” and Bringer of Gifts – A great power is always emerging here – but may only be sensed by others as it is not fully exposed or explained. New Moon phases are more than the sum of their parts and often leave people “wanting more”. There is a tendency for naivety and overlooking the depths in other people. Likewise, feelings and fears are easily given more validity than warranted as the imagination is quite strong. In this life, the person promised to “go for it” and not allow others to dissuade or discourage them from following their passions. These folks often inspire others and leave a positive and long lasting impression on those they meet – even if just once!

In this life, the person is terrified of stagnation and won’t take no for an answer. There is always something driving their passions that likely keeps them up at night and always on the move!

An example would be that you draw a picture and want an opinion on the colors used, and the first person that sees the drawing suggests changes that are incorporated and result in producing a more accurate reflection of the image drawn, and possibly a commercial success, too! Teamwork makes the dreamwork! Just before the Full Moon, we realize and happily accept the importance and impact of other people in our life! We are “better together” is the mantra and motto, but it’s important to watch out for compromising values that need to be defended and protected, so you don’t sell your soul to make others happy.

Phase 5: The Full Moon 180⁰-225⁰ “The Human Being” – Drama King or Queen – Steven Forrest calls this placement the “damned if I do…dammed if I don’t” phase, and those born under the full moon will tell you it is true! There seems to be storm clouds overhead and something always going on – to the extreme! These folks know it is not normal to have so many apple carts turning over at once, and perhaps they are used to it, and even like it! Full Moon folks are engaged in a constant balancing act that involves acceptance of oppositions that need to be reconciled. Fat chance that this person will ignore or run away from the facts and circumstances, but that doesn’t mean they will take responsibility for how they likely contributed to the chaos, or always take action. Still, any delay or stagnation is not likely to happen for long, as this person promised to fully participate this lifetime and not sit on the sidelines!

Phase 6: The Waning Gibbous 225⁰-270⁰ “The Shaman” - Acceptance and Surrender – These folks understand there is more to life than satisfying personal wants and desires and look to make a difference by “giving back”. Perhaps more accurately, they are “paying forward” and helping make the world a better place - one kind act at a time. They carry a sense that every life matters and deserves loving support and understanding – especially when there is a struggle or difficulty, they can alleviate for someone else. Still, if this person feels there is only so much time left or resources to go around, they might easily justify keeping their own place in line or not correcting the cashier when they give too much change back and hold an “every man or woman for them self” outlook. That is highly unlikely as this person wants to live life to the fullest and proudly look in the mirror!

Phase 7: The Last Quarter 270⁰-315⁰ “The Pilgrim” - Savor the Moment – Steven Forrest calls this phase “flawed wisdom, hard-won" and eloquently describes the sweet acceptance of less-than-perfect people and circumstances. Although there is a possibility of having the questioning attitude of “is that all there is?”, the 7 ^th Moon phase often indicates an appreciation for the simple things in life and that which money can’t buy – especially happiness! While there are pitfalls and a potential shadow side for this lunar phase (like cynicism and resignation), the native is NOT likely to be judgmental or think they are “all that”. There is a peacefulness and “let it go” attitude that is a conscious decision they make and maintain. They actively pursue clean and peaceful endings to disputes with people and seek closure for all.

Famous Last Quarter Moon people: Oprah Winfrey, Michael J. Fox, Walt Disney, Amelia Earhart.

Phase 8: The Waning Crescent 315⁰-360⁰ “The Mystic Wanderer” - The Twilight Zone – This person believes in ghosts, because they see them, and sometimes they wonder if they are, in fact, a ghost! Perhaps the latter is not as true as the former, but the mystical is real, acknowledged and incorporated into daily living. To believe is not enough – these folks must connect and actively live by their definition of spiritual and metaphysical realms. Quiet time is not only valued, but essential to their well being and peace of mind. The “pull” of the mystical world and incongruities they feel between the “seen and unseen” can lead to depression and even temporary or permanent insanity in some cases. The cold cruel world takes a toll, but this person promised to face it head on and breakthrough fears and any resistance to find transcendence for themselves once and for all.

New Moon and Solar Eclipse - Dec. 3-4, 2021 - How Will it Affect You?

This New Moon and Solar Eclipse is unlike most because it's the ending of a major cycle that began May 2020 that started the process of letting go of people (including groups) and of activities that were no longer “working for you”. No doubt you have engaged in saying goodbye to a number of folks and projects – and are now in final stages of letting go of the last remnants of incompatible people and certain pursuits.

Wait a minute – aren’t New Moons supposed to be a great time to set intentions and start new pursuits towards fulfillment?

Yes!

So, this New Moon is a mixed bag of both letting go and setting new intentions, and the two do go hand in hand, even if they seem to be at odds with each other.

While the focus may be on the Sun and Moon during this eclipse, two other planets play a major role in this process of letting go and starting new. They are the freedom seeking Jupiter in Aquarius – that rules Sagittarius (where the Sun is in now until December 21, 2021), and the fiery warrior Mars at home in the sign of Scorpio (ruled by Mars) and making a square aspect to Jupiter that began late November and continues through Dec. 12.

This square aspect brings a challenge to our process of doing a dance of letting go and starting new – BIG TIME! It’s similar to this example of when you are running out the door to do something enjoyable, and your phone rings and it’s work telling you that you have to drop what you are doing and take care of something urgent. You may not see it as urgent – but they do! Your challenge will be do adjust and postpone the timing to take care of business – and then you can get back on track. It’s an annoyance, but nothing you can’t handle. One thing is for sure – you can’t ignore it!

Welcome dear reader to the first of a 4-Part series of articles written on the 4 Major Asteroid Goddesses, Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta. Discovered in the early 1800's, the "asteroid belt" is largely thought to be a planet that was either never fully developed, or destroyed somehow, and forever remains in orbit between Mars and Jupiter - representing the masses and its collective consciousness and strength in numbers. Ceres (the first and largest asteroid discovered in 1801) represents motherhood and family relationships, food, agriculture, transitions in a female’s life, and nurturing qualities we received as children and (often) replicate as adults. With Ceres, there is a love of what is simple, natural, and good for you. There is also a strong need to nurture and protect, as well as to treat other living beings, including animals, with respect and reverence. For those reasons, Ceres is often associated with the Sign of Virgo.

Ceres is also connected to grief, as well as the possibility of destroying everything in one’s path in order to regain what was lost. It might also be connected to separation and time-sharing, as Ceres in mythology had to strike a deal with Pluto (Hades) who had kidnapped and married her daughter, Persephone, to agree to share Persephone with him for part of the year, rather than lose her daughter entirely. For those reasons, Ceres is also associated with the Sign of Scorpio.

Ceres represents the Mother – the life-giver and sources of nurturing, devotion, patience, and unconditional love. The ability to forgive and provide for her children and put them before herself is regarded as the essence of a good mother.

Ceres shadowy aspect can be devouring, abusive and abandoning. She can make her children feel guilty about becoming independent and leaving her. She can be the “helicopter mom” who lives her life through her children and may not allow them to learn through their own mistakes. Another “dark Ceres” is one who abandons her children, or too busy to nurture and available when needed.

In 2020 , the Goddess Ceres began the year in Capricorn and in the "mix" with powerful Planets Pluto and Saturn as the Covid-19 virus began to take hold globally. As Ceres entered the humanitarian sign of Aquarius in early February 2020, the world was already beginning to restrict travel and the process of separating began. Late April, Ceres entered Pisces and the full grip of the pandemic was felt and people advised (or ordered) to shelter at home - further separating loved ones while fear mounts everywhere. Ceres remained in Pisces until September 27, 2020, when she retrograded back into the Sign of Aquarius, and brought new wisdom and tools to sooth and comfort and heal the masses through the end of 2020. In 2021, Ceres left Pisces on February 22, to the self-sufficient sign of Aries - where she will remain until May 9, 2021. She is learning how to prioritize and care for her own needs, while being better-able to take on task for others who can't do for their self. Pallas-Athena: The Asteroid Goddess and Power in Your Astrology Chart! (#2 of 4 Part Series)

The Mythology of Pallas tells us she was born by splitting the head open of her father, Jupiter*! She emerged fully grown and dressed in armor! She was "born ready"!

Pallas is considered the multifaceted goddess of war, wisdom, poetry, artisans, craft-working, and intellect. She is strong-willed and powerful. As Jupiter’s favorite daughter, Pallas was forever loyal to her father, no matter what!

It may seem contradictory for the goddess of art and wisdom to also be a goddess of war, but in this case, it made sense! Her brother Ares (a.k.a. Mars) was also Jupiter's offspring, and famous for being the god of war: yet the term "war" meant two entirely different things to these two very different gods. Ares (Mars) was the god of chaotic battle, bloodlust, ferocity, courage, and violence. On the other hand, Pallas was the goddess of strategy, organized fighting, advanced weaponry, and skilled manipulation on the battlefield.

If Ares/Mars was offense, Pallas was defense. If Ares/Mars represented pure force, Pallas represented controlled strength. The two were not enemies by any means, but the warriors would often choose one or the other to pray and ask for their favor - depending on their position in battle and the style they chose to fight with. It bears noting that Pallas never lost a Battle or War! Her presence on your side assured a big win!

Pallas is the woman in a “Man’s World” - competitive, skilled, and highly intelligent! Pallas is still active in a man's chart - representing his feminine energies to negotiate, and win without someone else having to lose. Pallas can also represent females in your life who demonstrate and teach those attributes for you to learn and incorporate - especially when fighting for the underdog (including yourself)!

In her youth, Pallas accidentally killed her best friend (Athena) during practice of martial arts. Her remorse led her to adopt her friend’s name and keep through her life as a reminder of unintended consequences from letting your passions cloud your judgment. Forever more, she would be referred to as Pallas-Athena!

There are variations on the mythology about whether Athena killed Pallas, or the other way around. There are also variations on whether the proper hyphenated name is Pallas-Athena, or Pallas-Athene. They can all be considered synonymous, with little to no impact on their meaning in your astrology chart.

Juno is the Queen of Gods and embodies the traditional female roles of wife and mother. She helped bring children into the world and strengthen their bones. She is Goddess of conception and in ancient times called upon in labour. She was also called upon to help marital disputes.

Juno and Jupiter were Emperor and Empress of the gods and were the first to be joined in marriage (Jupiter’s idea). It is said Juno was a maiden when married. The month of June is named after Juno and is considered the most favorable month for marriage.

Despite her husband’s numerous affairs – Juno remained loyal to Jupiter.

Juno protected the “Royal Mint”, and is known as the "keeper of the coin".

Strengths: Leadership and loyalty. Juno represents the regal feminine and uses her benevolent authority to protect others. Where Juno is placed in your natal chart signifies your power to rule in that environment. She is loyal, tenacious and unselfish in her service. The Rewards for Your Sacrifice and Service

Vesta was chosen at a young age to serve a "higher purpose" and ensure the protection of the population by keeping herself pure. According to legends, Vesta asked for the life of chastity and perhaps was too young to know what she was sacrificing.

Vesta assisted in rituals and lived a life of solitude that carried large responsibilities but offered great rewards at the end of her "service". At age 30, Vesta could marry (usually arranged to be with a well-to-do and respected husband) and also bear children. She was given a nice dowry for her service and sacrifices, too!

Various myths suggest Vesta remained a virgin, and other versions claim she was buried alive as punishment for losing her virginity, and that her partner was killed as well. Other stories tell that Vesta engaged in the highest form of sex to raise the kundalini fires with her partner(s), which included high priests, and young men (boys) going to battle. Vesta was no prostitute - her role was to transform people and assist with their evolution.

Shining a Light on You!

The astrological and astronomical worlds are buzzing about the Super Full Flower Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse on May 26, 2021 – and with good reason!

There must be something deep in our psyche about Full Moons and their magical allure they bring to our busy lives – beckoning us to slow down and contemplate what affect this dramatic phase with our Earth, Sun and Moon might have to our busy post-Covid quarantine lives!

Four eclipses will occur this year, two of the moon and two of the sun. The first of these will take place during the early hours of Wednesday (May 26, 2021 at approx.. 4:13 PDT) when the full moon becomes completely immersed in Earth's dark umbral shadow, producing the first total lunar eclipse since January 2019. *

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the full moon and the sun, and ONLY occurs when there is a full moon! A supermoon means that the moon looks a bit bigger than usual since it is a bit closer to the Earth than usual. *

There will be another eclipse of the Moon – almost total (97%) that will be visible across all North America later this year, on November 19.

There is more terminology for this Full Moon on May 26 ^th , including the Blood Moon, because of its rich copper-ish color that is created during the eclipse, and the Flower Full Moon, because this is the time of year that so many flowers are blooming! Makes sense!

What may not make obvious sense is the astrological meaning behind the Full Moon with Sun in Gemini and the Moon in the opposite sign of Sagittarius. That astrological event happens once a year and signals prime time to communicate with each other and our “higher selves”!

Just who is our “Higher Self”?

Some refer to their higher self as their soul, or their intuition, or other identity that goes beyond material realms. Some rituals are practiced so as to link up with one’s “higher self” and receive insight that inspires growth and evolution - both individually and collectively.

At the time of the Full Moon Eclipse (approximately 4:13 a.m. Pacific Time), the Sun will be in the first house of the Self, and the Moon will occupy the 7 ^th House of Relationships – bringing the big theme of communication within our relationships to the surface – and shining the light on where there is tension and the need for balance.

With the eclipse, there can be sudden enlightenment and inspiration occur and often conveyed in dreams, or meditative states, including long quiet walks or even taking a shower.

In this Full Moon we will see a clear picture of where we are, and a vision of where we want to be – and the two do not necessarily match up. We are helped by having (first) inner communication with our self to determine what we want and what we need in our relationships, whether at home, work or elsewhere.

Perhaps what you want and what you are now receiving are two different things, and it is time to part company and not continue with unfulfilling exchanges that do not support growth or nurturing for one another.

Above all – the Full Moon is about enlightenment, and when Sun and Moon are in Sagittarius and Gemini – it doesn’t get much more enlightened than that!

New Moon January 2021 - Moon Madness or Welcome Change Within?

Oh the times they are a changin'

Depending on where you reside, the New Moon in Capricorn hits on January 12 or 13, beginning a cycle that has as much to do with endings as it does with starting something new!

So much has happened since the last New Moon in Capricorn (Dec. 26, 2019), and we recognize that the world has drastically changed, and more drastic changes are at our doorstep! The turmoil we witnessed since early 2020 increases in intensity and the timing for planetary line-ups associated with major upheavals, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other breaking news, coincides with already scheduled major global events, including the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2021!

New Moons occur when both the Sun and Moon occupy the same sign in the zodiac - usually once a month. As the Sun takes one year to travel all 12 signs (approximately 4.3 weeks per sign), each New Moon is in a different astrological sign each month and, together, they highlight the energies of that sign.

Each New Moon activates your natal chart where you find that particular sign, as well as which of the 12 Houses where the sign resides. In other words, if you have Capricorn in the 3rd House, the New Moon in January would focus on 3 ^rd House activities, that could include communication, learning, short-distance travel, neighbors and siblings.

This New Moon can be a tremendous opportunity for change within you to let go of past anger, resentments and need to control because of ego and hurt feelings. If 2020 took everyone by surprise….2021 should as well – in a good way!

Astrologers are excited as never seen before, as Winter Solstice and the Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter occur on the same day of December 21, 2020!

The Great Conjunction of 2020 is in reference to Saturn and Jupiter joining at the exact position for the first time in 20 years, with additional influences that have not occurred in several hundreds of years!

Saturn and Jupiter influences are always significant any time of year, and when they are positioned exactly together it signals a shift in energies that help you to reset, reboot and make great change happen in your life!

Many modern-day astrologers, and “intuitive communities” say our planet is going through a re-boot, to raise its vibration and mankind is evolving at lighting speed as a result! Some even suggest there are “intergalactic forces” assisting and observing this process as it is the beginning of a new cycle that occurs every 12,000 years!

Ultimatums, threats, and final offers don’t always work, especially when negotiations are available to make outcomes a win-win for all. Time to be Captain of Your Ship!

There is a New Super Moon on November 14, 2020 (9:07 pm Pacific Time) – so named Super because the Moon is at its closest to Earth in its annual orbit. Perhaps an astrological metaphor could be that we are closer to our emotional and spiritual nature this time of year, and more receptive to our feeling nature to help guide us.

It is easy to associate New Moons with New Beginnings, and while that is absolutely true, it’s important that YOU participate in the process and help set things into motion by taking action!

New Moons are excellent for setting your intentions! Like a sea Captain taking the helm – where will you steer your ship to reach a new desired destination?

I think one of the major misunderstandings about astrology is that life happens TO YOU – and you are a victim of circumstances – for better or worse. Not true! There is interaction and engagement always available!

This New Moon in Scorpio (where both Sun and Moon are in the same astrological sign) is timed with many planets that have recently changed, or are about to change (apparent) directions in the sky – from going in “reverse” – to going forward! Perhaps most notable of those planetary “re-directs” is our personal warrior - Mars – who finally pivots on November 13 and brings his energy into a new use of our will, determination, and aspirations!

Key words for this Super New Moon are passion and transformation. The two go hand-in-hand as you take the helm of your ship and set sail for a vision of yourself that has yet to materialize. The Scorpio energy touches our deepest levels where desires drive us to want more for ourselves and to evolve spiritually.

At the same time you move towards a new destination, it is likely you are letting go of something that was a big part of your life, but no longer serves the purpose as before. Facing Fears Over What You Want

Full Moons happen every month – but in October 2020 we get two!

The first Full Moon (on October 1 ^st) was a Super Full Moon, so named as its orbit was the closest to Earth for the year; and because we have a second Full Moon in the same month , it earns the designation of “Blue Moon”.

Blue Full Moons occur every 2-3 years, but hardly ever on Halloween! In fact, the last Full Moon on Halloween was 76 years ago (in 1944)! Does this suggest significant events are about to happen? Yes – but nothing we can’t handle!

For starters - the Sun will be in the intense fixed water sign of Scorpio that calls on us to pursue our desires in a variety of areas, that often deal with other people’s money, resources and values. The Moon will be in the opposite side of the zodiac in the peaceful and fixed earth sign of Taurus, often dealing with our personal resources and what we value. The two don’t always go hand-in-hand, and this Full Moon will shine the light on the differences that are coming to a head and require a decision and action to be made.

No matter your Sun or Moon sign, this Full Moon will likely shine the light on where you need to “Come Clean” on what you want, and therefore, what you don’t want. There are huge leaps of faith to be made – where you are required to trust yourself to make the right decision and take the right action(s). Easier said than done!

There are many planetary influences causing skeletons to suddenly fly out of the closet during this Full Moon phase – that easily tempt you to hesitate and not move forward with your decisions to make a change. More than likely, you will want to use those revelations as an excuse to avoid facing fears - in hopes those new facts change everything and there is no need to take a new path after all!

We play “Trick or Treat” in this Full Moon by asking for something from others, and if the answer is no - there is a penalty. It might be severing relationships or issuing some pay-back. We are “bargaining for keeps” during this Full Moon and more than likely, this is not the first time we’ve knocked on this particular door!

History is repeating itself with the participation of both Mercury (the mind) and Mars (our desires) in retrograde, and it’s important to keep in mind that you may be fighting old battles. Now is time to bury the ax, and you get to choose if the ax should to be buried in the ground (in other words – let resentments go) – or bury the ax in someone’s back and continue to hang on!

With passions and feelings at a peak level (thank you Scorpio energy), it is important to be consciously involved with life-changing decisions and subsequent actions you take and which actions to avoid!

There are two (2) symbols for Scorpio – the Scorpion that stings, and the Phoenix that rises from the ashes. We are being challenged now to break free of self-imposed limitations and those we allow others to hold over us.

This Full Moon offers more freedom and independence from what inhibits your personal growth and happiness. You can choose to let go of stubborn patterns of thoughts and feeling and create new adventures that use your awesome creativity to transform your life and raise your vibration!

The forces within are more “vocal” during this Blue Full Moon as they are activated by powerful planetary positions elsewhere in the zodiac in 2020 that signal a time to evolve personally and globally. The stronger the pull to give in to petty and angry reactions towards others, the greater the “lift” in your vibration when you choose to find new alternatives to avoid punishing others and operate from your shadow self. Remember the powerful Phoenix rising from the ashes!

While the Full Moon hits “exact” on 7:49 a.m. Pacific Time on October 31, the Full Moon phase has a 3-5 day “window” that is felt a day or two before and after. Here's are some "tips and considerations" for this Blue Full Moon:

1. Consciously identify what fears are being triggered and why! Is it a fear of losing someone's love, protection, status, possessions, etc.?

2. Be open and express fears about making changes – even when the change is for the best!

3. Acknowledge your feelings and practice techniques that calm, sooth and support a sense of well-being!

4. Watch what triggers strong emotions and old ways of reacting, especially angry responses.

5. Be mindful in advance of potential encounters that may pit you against others in a no-win situation.

6. Can you let hot situations cool down before reacting?

7. Ask yourself if your actions are motivated by anger, or through mindful kindness and understanding?

8. Ask yourself if you facing a promise you made to yourself not to be a victim or held back because of fear?

For this Blue Full Moon on Halloween as you face your fears – remind yourself you can do this! And remember to acknowledge the challenges are real and facing fears is something we all go through, and when we do, we are so much stronger (and wiser) for it!

How to Sync Up to Manifest Change and Growth

There is a lot of chatter about the Super New Moon on October 16, 2020 (12:31 pm Pacific Time) and perhaps it is worthy of the coverage by astrologers, but I think all New Moons are worthy of taking note - as do all astrologers!

The term "Super New Moon" might convey an ominous meaning for some, but simply put – it means the Moon is at its closest to Earth in its annual orbit. Perhaps an astrological metaphor could be that we are closer to our emotional and spiritual nature this time of year, and more receptive to our feeling nature that can be a helpful guide.

It is easy to associate New Moons with New Beginnings, and while that is very true, The New Moon asks that YOU participate in the process and help set things into motion by taking action!

According to legendary astrologer, Jan Spiller, the New Moon “…is a time best suited to making new beginnings! For the first 48 hours following the time of the New Moon each month, a window of opportunity opens for making wishes that, if written down, come true in the days and months ahead.”

Even a small start creates a ripple effect and nuclear reaction in the universe. Something as simple as initiating a phone call to a potential employer, or first date, or any number of wishes you hope to come true have extra power to be firmly planted - like a seed that begins to establish itself and begin its growth cycle immediately to full maturity.

The hard part may be DECIDING what you want and getting stuck in an endless process of re-thinking and allowing fears of rejection or multiple negative result to stop you dead in your tracks!

Think of the New Moon opportunities as a “mini New Year’s Resolution” where you might make a list of what you want to bring into your life, whether it is material or experiential. It could be a new job, a move to a new city, or starting the class or a business you keep putting off. It can also be letting go of old resentments and opening your heart to be more loving to yourself and others.

Often, the astrological sign that the Sun and Moon are in during the New Moon phases will influence your focus – no matter what your own Sun Sign may be. During the October 16 New Moon, the sign of Libra and its Ruling planet is Venus – the Goddess of Love, Beauty, Relationships, Justice, Arts and Values are dominating our global psyches. That covers a lot of territory to be sure, and likewise, your wishes for this New Moon may seem “all over the place”, but who says you have to stick with just one or two intentions? And who says you must adhere only with astrological rulerships and influences? Not me!

If you are setting your clock to sync exactly to the start of the New Moon's 48-hour "window of opportunity" – it is 12:31 p.m., October 16 (Pacific Time).

Rituals can help with the process to manifest your desired changes - but are not necessary. There is no right or wrong way to do something that helps you to center and focus on what you want to bring into your life. Your ritual can be as simple as lighting a candle, playing music, lighting incense, or just going outside to see the Moon in it's beginning (waxing) phase!

Retrogrades for Mars and Mercury are at play during this October Super New Moon, and these two planets ask us to re-examine past ways of thinking (Mercury) and acting (Mars) that are not serving you well.

Mars is asking to ignite an old passion you left behind – so perhaps it is time to get in touch with your desires to write, paint, dance, learn, teach, or any number of activities that you once pursued. Mercury is asking you to find new perspectives and give more clarity to your thought processes that may be running you ragged and stuck in a rut!

New and Full Moons in September 2020 - Time to Let Go of What Enslaves You!

Time to find a new freedom within!

The Full Moon phase September 1-2 (with Sun in the Virgo and Moon in Pisces) highlights our part in the collective… especially in the work place and areas where we volunteer our services. The Full Moon shines a light on where we feel enslaved and asks us to find where we can choose to be free and and free others at the same time by letting go of old patterns. Easier said than done as egos are highly charged now and people feel their personal freedoms are threatened when you exercise your own!

With any Full Moon, we are challenged to change, and it helps to be open to see the world and others from an entirely new perspective and be on the lookout for surprises! It also helps to find a place to retreat to collect your thoughts, feelings and relax your body from stresses that affect your well being.

The New Moon Phase September 16-17 (with Sun and Moon in Virgo) is a great time break old routines of thinking, feeling and acting that no longer serve you. Easier said than done, as fear surrounds consequences of doing so. The New Moon is a time to set new intentions, and new beginnings. Even a small start, like picking up the phone to schedule a meeting begins the momentum for the next Moon Cycle to manifest a new reality into your life.

With Sun in Virgo (August 22 – September 21) we feel the need to work a little harder and push our self and others to fix problems and inefficiencies and build a "better mousetrap"! We have the tendency to nit pick and find fault and see the glass as half full. In our efforts to make the world and everyone in it a more perfect place, we can miss the beautify and perfections that surround us in nature and the natural order of our universe.

You have a choice this September to stay a slave to routines and systems you helped create, or to look for ways to be more free and find peace within your various worlds.

The following astrological forecasts apply to Sun, Moon and Ascendant Signs for the Full and New Moon phases (September 1-2, and 16-17) and through the end of this Sun's cycle in Virgo (ending Sept. 21, 2020).

Aries (March 19 – April 20) The system is not working for you, and you want to cut the red tape and never mind the consequences. There is such a thing as biting the hand that feeds you and finding out you get cut off as a result. This is definitely a time to think before you speak (and act) and find how you can solve problems without making more for others, and yourself in turn!

Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Security is #1 now, and you are guarding the home front with every resource available and not above offering certain assets to protect others that are more precious. Virtue is in the eye of the beholder now, and you are the judge and jury of who's opinion matters most (to you) in the end.

Gemini (May 20 – June 20) Details matter more than usual now, and you want to catch mistakes before someone else does to keep an advantage going your way. Ethics are very much at play as you manipulate your way through a maze that is laced with opportunities and pitfalls alike. This is a time to decide to do the right thing when no one is watching!

Cancer (June 20 – July 22) U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) once said "speak softly but carry a big stick", and you are communicating that you mean business unless certain changes are made. You have been in this same place before, so what makes this any different now? It is true that something has go to give, and it may be that it's up to you to give-in in order to gain peace.

Leo (July 22 – August 22) It is nitty gritty time for Leo to get more serious about being serious. That doesn't mean the fun has to end, and if anyone can figure out how to keep it light and lively - it's LEO! Watch the tendency to blame your moods on what others are displaying around you. You are a born leader and can choose to lead in the direction you want others to follow.

Virgo (August 22- September 22) mentally, you are the top of your game now, yet may not be full sure of the direction you set out on and continue to follow. A fork in the road challenges your logical self with your spiritual side and the battle within doesn't get any more real. Best choices can be made by using both qualities, but not one without the other!

Libra (September 22 – October 22) Everyone experiences doubts, and often Libra looks to others to assure them they are on the right track - only to second guess their judgments, too! Mistakes can be some of life's best teachers, and perhaps it's assuring to trust the belief that all roads lead to home when you make critical decisions this week.

Scorpio (October 22 – November 21) Can you only trust yourself when it comes down to getting what you want? Whether that is true or not, what difference does it make? Perhaps it helps to find someone other than yourself to blame for delays and failures, but ultimately you make the decisions that truly count. Time is quickly wasting if you are only playing the blame game.

Sagittarius (November 21 – December 21) Sagittarius is not known for being a worrier, but there's a nagging feeling now that something is wrong or about to take a turn for the worse. You are becoming more mature and accepting responsibilities that you could blow off or postpone before. You are accepting the world on new terms and letting go of old perceptions that don't stand up any more.

Capricorn (December 21 – January 19) You always work hard, and are putting in extra hours now and want to

make sure the results are worth it. Everything gets measured for its own return on your investment of time and resources. Still, you want to make sure that one of the rewards is a certain satisfaction that money can't buy.

Aquarius (January 19 – February 18) Time to put your money and back into your ideas and make them happen! Lip service is over as you have to produce and make projects materialize and work. There is a "higher calling" to what drives you to focus and fine tune, and that "purpose" seems to evolve into even more meaningful goals with the extra efforts you are making!

Pisces (February 18 – March 19) It's easy lately to focus on what might go wrong, much more than what can go right when you focus your energies and time. Why is that? People who have disappointed you in the past need your help now, and it challenges your Pisces characteristic and strength to forgive. Who says you have to forget, too?

July 20-21 - Setting Your Intentions to Manifest!

New Moons are always a signal for new beginnings, and this is especially true for the New Moon in the sign of Cancer (July 20) – representing birth, nurturing, family, traditions, and our emotions.

No matter what your Sun Sign, this New Moon in Cancer is an excellent time to set your intentions of what you want to manifest in the next six months. For many people, there is a strong desire to get a new home or make the current one more comfortable and welcoming for ourselves and others.

There is also a strong urge to transform careers to serve one’s personal wants and needs (first), followed by serving the “good of the whole” as a close secondary goal. The two goals go hand-in-hand as never before as we realize the value and ease in achieving both!

It’s a magical time during any New Moon, and this New Moon in Cancer is as “good as it gets” for those who want to feel more love and compassion for their self and others, and connect on deeper levels of the soul that have been quietly waiting for you to be open and asking for Re-union.

I strongly recommend you set an alarm to coincide with the New Moon in Cancer (hitting Monday, July 20 at 10:32 am Pacific Time) to do some type of “ritual” to firmly establish your intention(s). The “ritual” can be as simple as turning off your electronic devices and taking a minute to say an affirmation mentally or verbally of what you want to set as your New Moon Intention. The ritual can also be more elaborate and symbolic, like lighting one or more candles, incense, playing music and writing down your “wish”. It does not really matter! Still, by writing down your intentions you add another energy to “excite and attract the cosmic energies” to set your intentions into motion and manifest.

The Cosmic Clock - Astrological Forecasts for April & May 2020

No matter your Sun Sign – April and May will be a “Juggling Act”!

The first three signs of the zodiac (Aries, Taurus and Gemini) are in full swing this April and May - demonstrating the Cardinal (Aries), Fixed (Taurus) and Mutable (Gemini) energies (a.k.a. Modalities) that re-cycle every three months!

Here’s how these 3-month cycles work – in 3 parts:

#1. Take Action Time! Sun in Aries March 19-April 19 – We are indoors and isolating more – but as not couch potatoes! From spring cleaning to starting (or re-invigorating) home-based businesses or hobbies – we are ON IT! That’s Aries energy – with Mars’ vibration taking charge to get started on getting started! Watch the tendency to go in too many directions at once to be effective and get anything finished! It helps to find helpers to maintain momentum and develop your leadership skills, too!

#2 Stabilize Time! – Sun in Taurus (April 19-May 20) – After starting so many projects while Sun was in Aries, we slow the pace now and focus in Taurus so we can stabilize and reinforce foundations to become stronger and support future growth! This is the mid-part of the 3-month cycle where we fine-tune and test our processes in how things work. This is where we get the “bugs” out and make improvements! This period is where we practice patience and allow our Venus energy to enjoy the creative process and not rush or cut corners.

#3 Adapt and Adjust Time! – Sun in (Gemini May 20-June 20) A crazy-maker for some – this period following Aries and Taurus is when we complete one cycle and prepare for the next (in June and July)! It helps to practice “acceptance” in this process as the universe urges us to get out of old ruts and routines and practice new routines! This is an excellent time during Gemini to explore and experiment and be open to change. It’s easy to see our growth from the start of this cycle, and the emergence of new thoughts, feelings and vibration!

Jupiter conjunct Pluto in Capricorn – April 4 – Following the infamous Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn on January 12, 2020, that many blame for current global situations, Jupiter joins the fray now to make everything bigger…for better or worse! Mostly for the better as many blessings are bestowed, even if disguised at first!

Full Moon in Libra – April 7 – The “classic” Full Moon – representing YOU and your relationships that include physical, emotional, mental and spiritual issues. Emotions take center stage, and everyone wants improvements – NOW! Question is – will it be a one-way street – or a true compromise between yourself and others?

New Moon in Taurus – April 22 – Money, sex and security is highlighted to reflect on how they control your emotional well-being and sense of satisfaction in our material world.

Full Moon in Scorpio – May 7 – The theme of money, sex and security previously examined during April 22nd New Moon hits a crisis point where “something’s gotta give”! You’ll look to cut losses and get back-pay (or perhaps pay-back)!

Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius on May 11 – The planet of challenges is returning to Capricorn to finish what he started with Pluto in late 2019 - to restructure outdated models and paradigms no longing serving the good of the whole. The old saying “if only I knew then” applies here, because we’ve learned from mistakes and can perform “damage control” that reverses many affects that looked irreversible before. This “remodel period” lasts through mid-December 2020! Yes, Saturn takes his sweet time…but the results are worthwhile and long lasting!

Since astrologers get asked “when am I going to meet Mr. or Ms. Right….and since it’s top of mind around Valentine’s….I’ll go out on a limb and say this is a very favorable time for many people – especially if they are actively looking for new love, or to rekindle old flames!

No matter your Sun Sign – December 2019 through January 2020 shines the light where you want to take a risk to get out of your comfort zone, and at the same time (still) play it safe! The two go hand-in-hand, even if they seem to be unrelated or opposite.

In December, you’ll be balancing career opportunities with responsibilities at home to make sure bills get paid, and something’s left over for a rainy day or self-indulging. Like walking a high wire rope – you make sure there’s a safety net below – and avoid worse case scenarios if you misstep and fall.

We begin December with high optimism that carries through much of the month and into January, too! This is a welcome relief after a somber November that delivered (or threatened to deliver) unpleasant realities, resulting in a need to re-set your life’s trajectory as a result. Collectively, we take a hard look at old systems that no longer serve their intended purpose and need to be phased out – quickly! A feeling of “go big or go home” strikes the first “blow” to demolish an old status quo that is outdated and nearly useless.

There’s a desire to “share the wealth” by creating more access to what has been limited for one reason or another. The blend of Sagittarius, Capricorn and Aquarius energies happening December thru January will open more doors to the world and welcomed new ideas and philosophies to blend in ways that transform many parts into a new whole.

Astrologically speaking, December and January would be busy without the holidays, and the workload is such that it’s best to prioritize and do what is a must and avoid burn-out. Time management is your friend! Watch the tendency to be hard on yourself and others and push beyond limits, that’s a sign you have made work a priority over responsibilities at home.

Jupiter enters Capricorn – Dec. 3 (thru Dec. 19, 2020) – Jupiter brings blessings wherever he goes, and he brings optimistic fresh eyes and new vision to update systems overdue for an overhaul, including people and routines. The proverbial “bottom line” will add a new line-item to include spiritual values in addition to how much money is in the bank. One of those values entails “sharing the wealth” to give back and reward those who are customers and employees in a business setting, and family members and community in our personal world. These goals are meant to be a long-lasting legacy beyond 2020.

Mercury enters Sagittarius – Dec. 9 The planet ruling our thinking process says “Go big or Go home” when he moves into this expansive fire sign! Still, we’ll have a Plan A and Plan B if projects don’t go 100% as hoped. We take calculated risks but remain highly optimistic – knowing that is essential to ignite excitement and imagination in others we must convince to gain their support.

Full Moon Phase Dec. 11-13 Sun in Sagittarius Moon in Gemini – inspires us to see a bigger picture (Sagittarius) and more possibilities than before (Gemini). A higher calling beckons us to aspire to new heights and leave limiting thoughts and feelings behind.

Venus enters Aquarius – Dec. 20 – The holidays receive a sensual blend of Venus energy who rules love, beauty and the arts with the zodiac sign of humanity and friendship – Aquarius. Who could ask for more in how we will feel the Christmas spirit that inspires us to open our hearts and home to welcome more people than usual and express our appreciation through various acts of giving?

Sun enters Capricorn – Dec. 22 (through Jan. 20, 2020) Triggering new ambitions and physical activity to make them happen. Mars enters Sagittarius – Jan. 3 –Mars is the planet that drives us to work hard and play hard and now enters the sign of “play really hard” (Sagittarius)! There’s a tendency to put too much on our plate to possibly finish and make too many plans and buy too many supplies (toys) for our new adventures. We are fired up and ready to move mountains and if anything gets in the way. This energy can do more harm than good if we miss the “big picture” and act without considering consequences.

Uranus Direct (in Taurus) on Jan. 10 The planet of sudden changes will change direction to bring more certainty to global influences affecting the economy, trade and territorial boundaries. There appears to be fewer “paths of possibilities” to help narrow the predicted outcomes. Still, these moving targets are far from being completed until Uranus leaves Taurus in 2025! Sometimes dramatic global change seems like watching paint dry!

Full Moon Phase, January 10-12 with Sun in Capricorn and Moon in Cancer that (again) highlights the balance at home and work, and/or activities that take you away from family. We’ll identify where and why we neglect some responsibilities to pursue certain priorities that may not serve their intended purpose. With Uranus going direct at the same time, the likelihood of sudden changes makes this Full Moon a potential game changer to force issues you thought you had more time to resolve!

Saturn Conjunct Pluto – Jan 12, 2020 – The planet of structure and time (Saturn) meets the planet of transformation & rebirth (Pluto) with an exact conjunction (meaning same place in the zodiac). No - it doesn’t signal Dooms Day, as these two power players began joining forces in Dec. 2018 with one more year to complete! Still, this action is getting lots of astrological “hype” and some people fear its affects. The world has survived these conjunctions every 33 to 38 years, and the long-lasting effects are best seen in 20/20, rather than while we’re in it. Yes, there are shifts and reversals of power happening, and it’s an opportunity for us to learn acceptance of the “natural life” of everything before it recycles into another form and to take over in its place.

Venus enters Pisces – Jan. 16 – The goddess of love is now in her Exalted place in the zodiac to reveal how beautiful the world is and how much there is for us to enjoy! We feel compelled to smell the roses more and likely to indulge in pampering ourselves and experimenting with a new look…that often has fantastic results!

Mercury enters Aquarius – Jan. 16 – The planet ruling our thinking goes into hyper-mode in electric and futuristic sign of Aquarius – and often shows-up with our mouth not able to catch up when we speak and difficulty sleeping at night.
